Basic eye makeup Favourites!

Do you ever find yourself buying different types of eye liner and mascara every time one finishes/almost finishes?

Well below would be my review on my absolute fave eyeliner and mascara brands for different types of occasions/needs.

1. Hypersharp Eyeliner by Maybelline.

I absolutely love this eyeliner because unlike other brush eyeliners, this is ACTUALLY a fine brush with very fine bristles. I've tried others and most are felt tip pen which goes on like a whiteboard marker pen... not very nice, not very fine. This one is ridiculously easy to control and you can make your eyeliner as thin or thick as you want... it is also amazing for doing cat eyes (which i LOVE). It is very dark and dries fast. On my eye shape it doesn't smudge at all.
TIP! -----> to make your eyeliner last longer/prevent smudging, put on sheer/nude eye shadow before putting your eyeliner on. Powder tends to make your eye look cakey i've noticed.

Price -----> RM 23.90 or thereabouts from any pharmacy.
How long does it last? -----> Everyday usage, 4 months i think? Don't quite remember but it sure does last very long for me.
Tip 2! -----> When it is ALMOST finishing, I use it on my eyebrows. Due to the fact that the bristle is so fine, you can literally draw each hair on your eyebrow if you want.

2. L'oreal 4D lash architect

For those of you who know me, you'd think that I have naturally long lashes and that mascara's are pointless for me.... but you are sadly mistaken. They may be long and curled but they lack in volume. And this definitely helps with that!

I apologise for unflattering photos as I have no idea how to use Photoshop/any other editing softwares except for collage making.

This is what my eyelashes look like in the morning

This is what they look like after i apply the mascara! :D

The length! The VOLUME! Can you imagine my morning lashes if i had put on eyeliner as in pics 2 and 3? You probably won't even see it.

TIP! ----> When applying mascara, go right to the base of your eyelashes and do very slight left to right motions all the way up. VERY slight. Move left and right too much your lashes would clump up. Do it just right, it'll end up separating the lashes. :)

TIP2! ----> You can apply more than one coat, but wait till the first is semi dry. This'll add Volume.

Price! -----> Unfortunately it is pretty pricey - RM54 But trust me, it's worth it.

Warning! ---> It is a little difficult to remove (waterproof and all) so you'll need to use eye makeup remover to completely get it off. Facial wipes will only remove half of it and the next morning you'll wake up with panda eyes.

Natural progression from here would be to review the awesomest EYE MAKEUP REMOVER EVER!

Its amazing because you only need a pea size drop on your cotton ball and you can get rid of the most waterproof eye makeup you have in one (okay maybe two) swipe(s). UNFORTUNATELY since it is bare minerals, it costs a fortune in malaysia. I have yet to go to Sephora(paradigm mall/starhill) to replenish but it is 15 pounds/18USD. If youre willing to splurge then it is definitely worth it. If not....

Nivea eye make-up remover works well too. I'm sure many of us use this. :)

So thats all for today. Waiting for my first Mivva box to arrive. I unfortunately still haven't received a despatch e-mail.... poo. I hope it won't take too long because I'm supposed to get an October and November box.

Toodles lovelies! Tell me if there's anything else you want to see/get reviewed! :D

Here's a little something for the hair if you're bored with your hairstyle!

Next Beauty Box pick!

I wanted to try Box Culture next. It's Rm33 a month and I looked at their most recent boxes which had really good products! Really worth it for RM33 too. Their Anniversary is in November so in preparation for that, they unfortunately aren't accepting subscriptions in months of September and October. Await I shall!

So I looked at WonderBox. Despite it being RM45 I still decided to scour through their boxes. Unfortunately I noticed that the brands they're currently selling aren't brands that attract me. Nor was their recent box attractive to me. It's unfortunate because they started out really strong!

December'12

1. Clinelle eye bright
2. Clinelle toner
3. Kerastase leave-in conditioner
4. Kerastase hair mask
5. OPI nail polish
6. Empro mascara

You might be thinking it's because its December so special Christmas box which may be partially true... but comparing the June'13 box which still carried brands like Murad, L'oreal, Neutrogena and Aupres... to this:

August'13

1. Ginvera real spa power
2. Bloop nail polish
3. Skinz perfect white BB cream
4. Dermedex cleanser and refining cream
5. NuTeen blemishes gel.

I'm not saying the brands carried in August'13 are bad(because I've never tried them) but I'm sure you guys know what I mean right? I know I may sound like an elitist but for RM45 per box? I don't think I'd be too happy with the August'13 box; especially if I've been getting similar products to the December'12 box.

So the search continues.. and I arrived at Mivva Box. The site prompts you to log in so I click FB login but somehow it tells me I need an invitation code.... so I decided to do it manually and lo and behold I now have an account pending payment for a 3 month subscription. :p EHEH

Yes I did just get my pay check hence the late update. In the future if you guys want me to fill in the time between me receiving and reviewing the box with other stuff that I use please let me know and comment Below.

HEH

ANYWAY back to the Mivva box. I saw the brands and previous boxes on other review sites and I'm pretty impressed! The size/amount of products given really seems worth it and the brands are interesting enough too! Cannot wait for my first box to arrive! It always feels like i'm getting a present when I receive beauty boxes (despite me having paid for them) :p

Pretty okay kan the prices? And if you collect 380 points... you get to redeem a box! :D wheeee. How else can you collect points?

This is very similar to GlossyBox. Point system, how many products you receive a month (5 - 6) and the subscriptions available! So I'm super excited :D

And the boxes are occasionally themed! If the boxes are pretty enough I usually use them to organise my beauty products. :p Below is the box for May if i'm not mistaken.

Toodles guys! I'll update in 3 days with my go-to mascara and eyeliner! Whether you want to hear it or not, I'll share it cause I think they're pretty damn awesome.

Muchos love!

Rejoiced

Seeing as how I have never had anything delivered to my house before, I thought I'd try the cheapest Beauty Box option first (you know, in case it gets lost in the mail or there's no one to receive it and they leave it on the doorstep where my cats would pee on it etc.)

Now, for those of you who have used GlossyBox or similar subscriptions, this one would be a wee bit different. You get to choose 3 items across 3 categories and it is commitment-free. As in no subscription needed. You choose, you pay, you get a beautiful box of beauties in 4 days. I purchased mine on the 19th and it arrived today on the 23rd (over the weekend).

AND its only RM15 (RM 9 + shipping RM6).

My choices?

1. Ronasutra mineral makeup

I'm currently using bare minerals so I'm pretty much in LOVE with anything "mineral-y" aka not your average compact powder/foundation. But as we all know Bare Minerals pretty much leaves your wallet bare as well.
I tried this on without primer/moisturiser etc and I think it would work well if you suffer from rosacea/redness or just to cover the dark circles under your eyes. Not so much if you have blemishes to cover. Bare minerals doesn't make them disappear completely (i hate using concealer/liquid foundation because it leaves your skin feeling tight and oily) but it covers a lot more than this one.

Pros
- Shades available are more suitable for asian skin (especially malay)
- Full size product is RM 48 available here
- Feels light on the skin
- May give better coverage if you do prep your skin with primer first.
- Best for light-medium coverage.
- Covers redness and dark circles fairly well

Cons
- not as good as bare minerals :p
- Uses sponge instead of a brush so you may end up wasting a lot of product on the sponge provided
- Barely covers blemishes.

2. Human Nature Strengthening Shampoo

I admit I didn't think this review through. To give a fair assessment I'll need to use it for a few days but based on tonights washing... I love how it feels on my head in the shower!
I ordered the peppermint scent and it leaves my scalp all cool and tingly and also makes my scalp feels really clean. As for the strengthening bit, we'll wait a few days ya?

If you're into natural and organic products, this site may be worth a look-see! Human Nature Natural Shampoo is available at that site for RM 49.90 for a 500ml bottle! :)

3. Dermedex - Biotox Cleanser & Refining Cream

I'm usually very picky about what I put on my face due to it being sensitive and acne-prone. But I chose this product because it specifically targets acne and open pores and its a 2-pack deal. The facial cleanser can also be used as an overnight mask and that's what I'm trying on now!

So again, I apologise for this horribly planned post but I'll be happy to also post about non-beauty box related beauty products that I am currently and have always used if you like! :D

Hope this was *somewhat* helpful. I promise the site will be better. Any constructive crticism is more than welcome!

Muchos love!
